Family Affair: a birthday lunch at Dillingers 1903 ♥♥♥

On my birthday last year, our family went back to Dillingers for lunch using another set of vouchers. This was actually the third time I came back to this place.

The second time I was here, Dianne and I were with our cousin, Alvin. We went here after our passport appointment.

Dianne and Alvin are happy diners. Too bad, this was the only photo I have of our lunch out. :(
Anyways, my brother joined us for lunch this time. There were lots of diners when we came in, that we were given a high table and chair this time.

I think a boxing match was airing during that time, which was enjoyed by the guys.

They let me order the food again coz this was my treat. While waiting for the food, I took photos of my eating buddies. ♥

My sisters were again game for the camera. :)

Mom, Danwyn and Dad also were game for some photo.

Since I wanted them to enjoy this lunch out, I ordered a few more dishes for sharing.

Starters/Appetizers:

Buffalo Chicken Wings ♥♥♥
We could not pass up tasting the listed numero uno in the metro by Spot.ph. They were tender and tangy.

Carbonara ♥♥♥
My favorite pasta.

Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad ♥♥

Mozzarella Sticks ♥
Just OK. I think the breading for this is a little thick. Also it came us to us cold, I prefer the mozzarella oozing out.

Sausage Fetuccine ♥♥
Just the right amount of heat.
Our refreshments:

Four Seasons for my sisters and I

Mango Juice for my brother and Dad

Pineapple Juice for Mom

Wish they could offer fresh juices or shakes.

Our main dishes:

Bacon Cheeseburger ♥♥

our Dillinger's staple, 16-oz USDA Black Anbgus Ribeye Steak with Mashed Potato ♥♥♥

Country Fried Porkchops ♥♥
This was my brother's order. He likes his meat, fried.

Another Ribeye Steak, this time with Baked Potato. ♥♥♥

We also ordered Fish and Chips, but it took a while before it came (place was jampacked so we cannot blame the servers). We had it for takeout but I forgot to take a photo of it. My bad.

My sister, Dianne, still posed for the camera before taking on her burger. (She claims she was on a diet during that time)

Again, we enjoyed our meal at Dillingers. The food and place were good and their prices are very reasonable.

**Looking forward to another good eat and memorable bonding as we celebrate the 'Rent's wedding anniversary next month at Dillingers. :)

Restaurant Trip: Dillinger's 1903 ♥♥♥

In celebration of my five years in the company, I took my family (sans my brother) out for lunch in a restaurant in Makati. Located at the third floor of Greenbelt 3, Dillingers exudes a modern classic vibe with its heavy wooden door and dark colored interiors.

At lunch time, the ambiance is homey with huge and comfy chairs.

I had vouchers for this lunch out so I made reservations the day before and was delighted that we were led to the table nearest the entrance, where we could still see the view outside. :)

Mom and Dad sitting comfortably while waiting for the orders
While my sisters  (Dianne and Des) were busy posing for the camera :)

Since this was on my account, they let me choose what food to order from the menu.

I ordered salad and pasta (2 orders each) for our appetizers.

Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad ♥♥
It was very tasty and we loved that the servings were generous enough for the 5 of us.

Carbonara ♥♥♥
I am a white sauce pasta lover and this is so delish, even my Dad enjoyed it too.
Roast Beef Sandwich ♥♥
Dianne said it was good and was very reluctant to share it with Daddy. :D

My family enjoys eating steaks; may it be at a restaurant or just plain grilling it at home. So ordering the 16-oz ribeye steak is not surprising.

16-oz USDA Black Angus Rib-eye Steaks ♥♥♥
These yummy steaks were definitely the star of our meal. :)

We had 2 steaks medium rare and a medium well for our bunso (seeing pink grosses her out!) and had baked potatoes for our sides. The chargrilled marks were a beautiful sight for the massive and cooked to perfection steaks.

Since my brother did not want to join us for lunch that day, I took pity and ordered him some for his lunch. :)

Pepper Steak ♥♥
My brother says that the steak was cooked perfectly. He could have enjoyed it hot if he came with us though.

Our lunch out was really enjoyable. Dillingers 1903 is perfect for people looking for a good place to eat while having a good conversation.

**This was our first visit at Dillinger's 1903 (November 2011).

My kitchen experiments ♥♥♥

If there is one thing I love besides eating and writing, it would be cooking. Not just for myself, but for my family and loved ones.

My fascination in the kitchen did not come to me at an early stage. All I remember growing up is watching cooking shows and that's about it. At age 14, my mom had to drag me into the kitchen so that I could learn how to cook; my best dish during that time was "anything fried". What made me take cooking seriously was when my Dad gave me a very practical advice; he said "Basta masarap sa panlasa mo, masarap na din yan sa iba". Now we're getting started. Tee-hee!

At the start, I use to follow recipes from books or those passed on by my Mom or Titas; but majority of those dishes are just regular main dishes (Nilaga, Sinigang, Adobo). Up until some years ago, I experimented putting twists on some dishes I have tried from several restaurants. My family liked it. Sometimes, I bring bigger "baon" so that I can share it with my colleagues at work.

Here are some of the dishes I have experimented so far:

My version of Beef Bulgogi rice topping ♥♥

my twisted Carbonara ♥

Chicken Bulgogi ♥

Spicy Chicken Skewers ♥♥

Grilled Pork with buttered veggies ♥

Kung pao pasta ♥♥ (our bunso's favorite)

Steamed Lapu-Lapu topped with scallions ♥♥

No photo of my most requested dish though, Garlic-ky Pansit Bihon. ♥♥♥

I do not have refined palate but I know I cook good food. My family's round figure is an attestment to that fact. ♥♥♥♥♥

An introduction..

Yay! Finally I was able to write something to start up my blog...would you believe that it took me 2 weeks to actually write something in here..☺

Before anything unusual comes up in my blog, I'd like you to know me perhaps a little more (or less)..

These are the four phrases that best describe me: (1) a serious worker at the office, (2) a thrifty and temperamental cook at home, (3) generous and loving "Mama Ninang" to my 7-month old nephew and (4) a "mother" to my cute cuddly doggy, Toffee.

Toffee acting cool (he was given to me as a gift by my darling inaanak, Lexie) ♥♥♥
my cutesy nephew Markus ♥♥♥

Writing has always been one of my passions in high school, though I opted to pursue my other passion (drawing) in college. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, both of them were not taken into consideration in my current job as a specialist in a multi-national company in Ortigas.

Follow me thru my experiences and together let us explore and promote food, places and stuff thru kitchen experiments, experiences and travels. Lesdudis! ♥♥♥
